same whitebalance custom throughout the shoot
start with a low white balance and then bump them up in Kelvin for better files
AF with one spot metering, focus on the eye - use the dot near the eye
automatic delay in shutter - 50% sharper images in “silent mode”, removes the camera shake from shutter press
breathing technique - shoot on exhale
$10k/month switched to full time photography from school
Visual Check:
shutter technique - silent press that is very subtle, “trigger mistake”

Beautiful natural smile, most important
Photog stand out: direct/coach models to pose that looks natural
train with the model to create it and “freeze” in the middle
image has to be razer sharp
images need to look believable - audience believes people are laughing!
natural laugh and freeze it, do it a couple of times until get it
use other people as background props
burn the background white to separate the models, +1 stop
element of control, place marker for model to stand
2 lights: main softbox from above and beauty dish
get the lights as close to the model as possible, softbox effect!
beauty dish will make the image pop, slightly to the side and above eyes
Fotolia Workshop01: SPEND A DAY WITH YURI ARCURS. LEARN TO SHOOT WHAT SELLS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QypVChtMreE
same stuff... more
adjust lighting in room to not contaminate your shots
breathe: control breathing, heartbeat
2 lights: Softbox (main) + Beauty Dish (overtop)
sun comes from above, so evolutionary need light to come from above
Softbox is diffuse main light, but BD gives sharp contrast/punch/shadows
BD must still be less power and slightly above eyelevel
believe in complete information sharing
Posing - “natural laugh”
Beautiful natural smile is the most important in stock images
train with the model to smile/laugh naturally and then “freeze” in the middle of it, do it a couple of times until you get the shot

It’s all about expression, coaching you to be as good as possible in front of the camera
make sure looking good that day, feel good, great clothes
where what you love, feel good in it/hot
alright, let’s mess around a little bit! hold there, I love it
seductive, cocky, little tweaks in expression
photography just “enhances” your expression, coaching you to be good in camera
1) photog work you love, 2) personality you like, 3) be coachable
4) get in shap or accept where at, 5) plan/practice/work your expression
“Play” and “Imagination” are the most important, get expressions
delete the crap out of images, need “playful” environment
reach in and pull out your personality
positive: we are going to create the best headshot you ever had!
